For the first time in 64 years, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will officially celebrate the Odwira Festival, marking a powerful return of tradition and cultural pride. This month-long event will feature:
- Spiritual Cleansing Ceremonies
- Durbar of Chiefs and Royal Processions
- Traditional Music, Dance, and Drumming
- Community Feasts and Storytelling
- Cultural Exhibitions and Historical Reflections
Regional Celebrations
While Kumasi will host the royal revival, Odwira is also celebrated in towns like Akropong, Amanokrom, and Aburi in the Eastern Region, typically in September. These versions focus on purification, remembrance of past epidemics, and community renewal.
